Sure, it can be also used on many other products.
Optical bonding touch screen technology refers to the process of bonding a touch sensor directly to the display panel using a transparent adhesive material. This bonding process helps to eliminate the air gap between the touch sensor and the display, resulting in improved optical clarity, enhanced durability, and reduced reflections.

What is Optical Bonding?
Optical bonding is the process of laminating touchscreens, glass or plastic cover sheets, EMI filters and other display enhancements to an LCD. A layer of adhesive is integrated between the overlay and the display, filling the air gaps left in the perimeter or gasket bonding. Adhesive curing results in products with better optical and reinforcement properties. CloudTop selects the most effective bonding methods and adhesive types for substrates and LCDs to meet application requirements and effectively improve product performance.
Which industries are best suited for optical bonding?
Optical bonding is popular in the military, marine, medical, transportation and retail sectors where higher performance displays are required due to harsh environments. Optical bonding is suitable for industries that use rugged displays in high reliability environments or that require displays to be seen in high ambient light conditions. The optical bonding process is particularly suitable and effective when applied to devices operating outdoors or in well-lit environments.
What are the benefits of optical bonding?
The display of a non-optically bonded display is produced by light from the LCD reflecting through a gap and then reflecting off the outer glass of the screen. As the light passes through the gaps and glass in the screen, the light is interrupted and bent, and some of the light is actually reflected back to the LCD module, which is called refraction. This refraction through the layers compromises the strength and clarity of the final image, reducing brightness and readability. Bonding the LCD module and glass together eliminates distractions and opportunities for light to bounce back. More light passes through the screen surface, so the image is brighter.
Touch screen bonding: tape VS optical bonding
1. Tape Bonding:
• Lower cost and easier implementation.
• Allows for easier replacement of individual components.
• Suitable for applications with budget constraints or when ease of replacement is important.
2. Optical Bonding:
• Enhances optical clarity and visibility in bright environments.
• Reduces glare and reflections for a better user experience.
• Improves durability by preventing moisture and dust accumulation.
• Provides better resistance against impacts and temperature variations.
• Ideal for rugged environments or outdoor applications.
